The Antwerp painter Eugeen Van Mieghem (1875-1930) grew up in the old port, where his parents had a pub opposite the Red Star Line warehouses. His paintings and drawings are a haunting testimonial of the port activities. They also feature the thousands of migrants who departed from here to America.
The Red Star Line Museum shows how the migrants inspired Eugeen Van Mieghem in a permanently changing exhibition of 12 works. Learn more about the life and work of this Antwerp artist in the Eugeen Van Mieghem Museum.
