‘NT2 Nocturnes’: joint project with schools where newcomers take Dutch or integration classes
One evening a month, the museum opens specially for newcomers to the city who are taking Dutch or integration classes. The museum has joined forces with teachers and with the Atlas organization to develop educational materials that help newcomers experience the museum in a personalized way. The Red Star Line Museum has a special significance for ‘new’ Antwerp people. It introduces them to Antwerp as a city of migration and diversity. At the same time, a visit also brings out their own emotions and stories about migration. One participant actually said, ‘I belong to this place’.
