Love migrants told their stories during the ‘Destination Sweetheart’ exhibition. They told them while being interviewed and shared their photographs and mementoes. The collaboration with every storyteller was done in a way that made them feel comfortable. We gave them enough space to choose the mementoes and photographs, so together we could set the right tone for the story. We invited them to donate the interviews, photographs and mementoes to the museum collection.
We paid special attention to groups rarely represented in museums. This is why we started an intensive group project with two Moroccan women’s associations. We focused on the power and pride behind the story and the importance of heritage for future generations. We developed an extensive programme (online and live), including workshops, theatre, dance, podcasts and love ceremonies in the museum tower.
