You had a home and sought a house in our city. A city on a stream. Always in motion. You can transplant a human, but you can't transplant a stream.
Did you transplant your roots? Moved your roots? Or are you sailing along on the stream we offer you. How do you do that? How does it feel?
Thanks to the lens of Claudia Zen Karan and the pen of Evelien Jansen 'From (t)huis to huis' was born. A series of portraits in pictures and in words. About roots. About identity. About feeling at home somewhere. Or not.
The creators
Claudia Zen Karan is a photographer. 'Identity' is her issue, 'roots' are her muse, 'other cultures' are her subject. Other cultures in Antwerp to be precise. This Antwerp anthropologist is always traveling. In Antwerp. Here she is at home. At last.
Evelien Jansen does a lot, but mostly writing. The world is her playground, the biggest attraction remains Antwerp. She describes her city with the gaze of a traveler who always comes home.
This cosmopolitan is at home here. In this place.
