For this exhibition, the Red Star Line Museum researched emigration from Belgium to Latin America in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
A visit to Argentina yielded around thirty stories through the descendants of Belgians who stayed in Argentina. In Belgium itself, we collected the stories of people who had returned after living in Latin America for a while. These were found through a public appeal, including one at the Fishing Museum in Ostend, as we knew that a lot of fisherman had historically made the crossing.
