Jan Krijff

It pays to support the museum.

A postcard sent in 1907 to an address in Willebroek was the first object that Jan sent us. Since 2015, we have been able to add more than 400 postcards to our collection.

Jan is a historian who emigrated from the Netherlands to Canada in the late 1960s. Many years later, he returned to his homeland. He collects and writes about postcards sent to the Low Countries. If he comes across a card with a Belgian destination, he sends it to the museum. It is important to him that a number of documents from his private collection can be stored properly and documented for future generations.

This is also an appeal from Jan: If you are in possession of objects/documents about the Red Star Line or migration, donate them to the museum. Another good thing to come out of his collaboration with the museum is that Jan occasionally visits Antwerp, which is something he would not have done before.
