Eugeen Van Mieghem is an Antwerp realist artist. He grows up in his parents’ café, right across the entrance of the Red Star Line sheds in the Montevideostraat.

Monumental work by Johan Creten moved to a new location near the Red Star Line Museum

Pliny’s Sorrow is an impressive bronze sculpture by the Flemish artist Johan Creten, who lives in Paris. This sculpture is on permanent public display at the Rijnkaai.

Foundation of the museum

The idea for the museum was launched in 1992. Since then several partners have come aboard on this project.

Belgian emigrants

In 1890, Louis van Engelen painted 'Belgian emigrants'. The painting is exhibited in the museum.
